From Wellington to Kaikoura19.01.2008

Picture of the day

Overnight the solartaxi was parked at Wwllington's Fire Brigade, so this morning at 7 I picked it up and drove it to the ferry. Many pleople say it's the most scenic ferry ride of the world, so I was very excited to travel on the boat from Wellington into the Marlborough Sound to Picton.

There Katja, a German backpacker, was waiting for me. She had read about my journey on my German blog on SPIEGEL ONLINE. I gave her a short ride of one kilometer, then I followed Highway No 1 towards Kaikoura. Just before Kaikoura, it became dark, so I only saw a little bit of the big seal colony. But the coastal scenery was breathtaking, even in almost darkness.
