Solartaxi needs intensive care in Riyadh13.09.2007

Picture of the day

Thomas and Rudi have spent two full days now in Romano Sokolowskis workshop for welding the rear wheel suspension. Our first major breakdwon!! Two days ago the axle shifted 5 cm and the solartaxi suddenly weared to the right side, so it was impossible to continue the tour! Luckily, this happened in Riyadh and not in the middle of nowhere! In the meantime, I met Mr. Mohammed Alkhawis. Since two weeks, he's the "Renewable Energy innovator of the Middle East Region". On his business card I could read: "Storing Big Quantities of Energy". That's it: While solar and wind power produce enough electricity during daytime or during windy times, the question of storing huge amounts of energy is not yet solved. Mister Alkhamis is planning to store energy with lifts and weights, and hopefully he will soon find someone to provide enough funds so that he's able to build the first prototype.
